Sahar Abdur-Rashid, the communications and awards intern, is a 2002 graduate of Temple University (Philadelphia, PA) where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management with a specialization in Sport and Recreation Management. She also obtained a minor in Journalism, Public, Relations and Advertising.

Prior to the WBCA, Sahar worked in the retail world in the arena of customer service. She also coached high school cheerleading. Former public relations and special events internships that she was involved with include: a recreation center, a non-profit organization as well as The Free Library of Philadelphia. At the recreation center she wrote corporate sponsorship letters, flyers, and posters. At the non-profit agency she promoted special events and at the Free Library of Philadelphia, she worked on a project, that helped enable visually impaired and blind patrons to utilize the library's materials and services.



Joline Charlton

WBCA Special Projects Intern

Joline Charlton, a native of Stone Mountain, GA, is a 2003 graduate of Wake Forest University where she earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Communication. After graduation she interned for Eurosport, a soccer company based in North Carolina, where she worked in marketing and promotions.

Since then Joline has worked at various sports organizations. Following her experience at Eurosport she accepted an internship with the Philadelphia Phantoms, a minor league of the Philadelphia Flyers, as a public relations intern.

Most recently she served as the graduate assistant for Atlanta based ScorePAD Sports where she assisted with marketing, sales, and customer service. Currently she is working on her completing her Master's in Sports Administration at Georgia State University.



Denadjae Combs

Joining the WBCA from Queens, New York, Denadjae has taken on the position of Convention Logistics Intern. Denadjae is a 2004 graduate of Syracuse University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with concentrations in Finance and Marketing. During her four years of college, Denadjae sat on the Student Government Finance Board where she helped plan and implement on-campus programming to ensure that budget parameters and visions were met successfully. She also served as a marketing intern for the Syracuse SkyChiefs, a AAA baseball team, where she assisted in ticket operations, guest services, and on-field promotions.

In addition, Denadjae has spent time developing skills in a variety of other areas. She worked as a copy editor for The Black Voice, a monthly campus publication, where she supervised a copy editing staff and contributed content for upcoming issues. Denadjae also worked as an assistant at a major music management company with a platinum selling artist, serving as a liaison between the label and its artists and management. Most recently, Denadjae served as a marketing assistant for the major international accounting firm of Grant Thornton LLP.



Brittany Harmon

Brittany Harmon
Marketing Intern

Brittany Harmon is the Marketing and Sales Intern. Brittany is from Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from Walsh University (North Canton, Ohio) with an undergraduate degree in Finance and Management. Brittany then earned her Masters in Business Administration from Kent State University (Kent, Ohio) in May 2003 while working full- time for the Timken Company.

Brittany was a four-year starter and three-year captain for the Walsh University Women's Basketball Team. Her senior year her team won the 1998 NAIA Division II National Championship. Brittany has worked at the Timken Company in Canton, Ohio, for the last six and a half years. In her last position, as a Senior Marketing Analyst, her responsibilities ranged from portfolio management to business planning. Brittany was a volunteer assistant basketball coach at Walsh University and was involved with various community organizations. Brittany continues to participate in athletics and team sports, including going to the 2004 UPA Club Ultimate Frisbee National Tournament with her Ohio team.



Khadija Head

WBCA High School All-America Intern

Khadija J. Head is the WBCA High School All-America Game Intern. She received her Bachelor's degree from Murray State University in May of 2003. The following year she received her Master's degree in Sport Management from Slippery Rock University in December of 2004.

Prior to beginning her internship with the WBCA Khadija was the intern for Georgia State Soccer Association. She assisted the marketing department in organizing and managing the 2004 Atlanta Cup, one of the nation's largest youth soccer tournaments. While pursuing her Master's degree Khadija was the graduate assistant for the women's basketball program. She played an essential role in developing and coordinating the events for Midnight Madness, organizing and conducting fundamental clinics for local area youth, and provided on-floor coaching as well as evaluating athletic performance of prospective student-athletes through film and off site competition.

Khadija is also a certified referee and an amateur magician.



Leslie McMillan

Joining the WBCA team from White, Georgia. Starting at Events, Convention Intern (Banquets), Leslie McMillan.

She attends Kennesaw State University, where she will graduate in May 2005. Leslie is obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management with concentrations in Recreation Management and Sport Marketing.

Before the WBCA, Leslie coached over 35 teams combined, in four sports, at both her alma mater Cass High School, located in Cartersville, GA (GO COLONELS) and the Bartow County Parks and Recreation Department. She has coached basketball, soccer, tee-ball, and volleyball. Her career goals are to work in the college setting, in the field of women's basketball, and to one day have an internship program named after her.



Jennifer Smith
Millersville Univ.

Jennifer Smith
WBCA All-Star Challenge Intern

Jen Smith is the WBCA All-Star Challenge intern and hails from York, Pennsylvania. She earned her Master's in Sport Management in May 2004 from Millersville University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications/Public Relations with a minor in athletic coaching in May 2002. Smith was also a four-year letter winner in basketball and set the school record for most games played in a career.

While in graduate school, Smith served as a graduate student assistant basketball coach and graduate assistant in the sports information department. Her work in the SI department included assisting with the publicity and promotion of 21 intercollegiate sports writing press releases, brochures, media guides, and game programs. Smith also completed an internship assisting a high school athletic director. There she was responsible for monitoring eligibility, evaluating programs and coaches, managing budgets, and supervising events. She also has experience working with the YMCA as a membership coordinator and physical education instructor.
