ATLANTA, Ga. - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced today that South Plain College’s Dominic Seals has been named the State Farm/WBCA Junior College/Community College (JC/CC) Player of the Year.  The WBCA presents this award annually to the top players in each of the following WBCA collegiate divisions (NCAA Divisions II, III, NAIA and JC/CC) and high school.

“On behalf of the WBCA, I would like to congratulate Dominic Seals for earning the outstanding honor of being named State Farm/WBCA JC/CC Player of the Year,” said WBCA CEO Beth Bass. “Her work ethic and persistence have merited her with this achievement and she truly exemplifies the best JC/CC player in the nation.”

Dominic Seals, a 6’2 post player from Dallas, Texas, was named All-Conference and All-Region after averaging 14.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game this season.  Seals guided SPC to an impressive 31-2 record, matching the most wins in Lady Texan history. 

Tallying 20+ games in double-figures, Seals secured season highs of 25 points, 19 boards and eight blocked shots.  In 2006, she was named a member of the Kodak/WBCA All-America Team.  Next season, Seals is Texas Tech bound and will join the Lady Raider nation to continue her career.

The State Farm/WBCA Player of the Year Award is selected by the ten-member WBCA Player of the Year Committee, which consists of one WBCA-member coach from each of the nine WBCA JC/CC Regions and the committee chair.

Seals will be formally presented her award at the WBCA Awards Luncheon presented by State Farm and Jostens on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at 12:00 p.m. (ET) in the Crowne Plaza’s Grand Ballroom. The State Farm/WBCA Player of the Year presentation is part of the 2007 WBCA National Convention, held in conjunction with the NCAA® Women's Final Four® in Cleveland, Ohio.
