Bethany Roderigue Earns WBCA's Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award |
||
| ATLANTA, Ga. -The Women's Basketball Coaches
Association (WBCA) has selected Bethany Roderigue of Stonehill College as
the winner of the Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award. The $1,000 Charles
T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award, named for and presented by Stoner, a former
legal consultant for the WBCA, is presented annually to one female collegiate
basketball player who intends to pursue a career in law.
"The WBCA is pleased to present the Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award to Bethany Roderigue," said WBCA CEO Beth Bass. "Bethany has demonstrated an unprecedented devotion on and off the court and we wish her continued success in her future endeavors." Roderigue is a criminology major with a minor in sociology, holding a 3.12 GPA overall and earning a 3.55 GPA this past semester. During the summer of 2005, she completed an internship with the Kennebec County District Attorney's office in Augusta, Maine, that confirmed her desire to continue her education in law. On the court, the senior guard serves as the team's co-captain and has helped lead her team to national-ranking status in NCAA Division II women's basketball. During her down time she has been involved in the Special Olympics program that takes place at Stonehill College and helped organize Stonehill's Youth Basketball Outreach program in surrounding towns. Roderigue will be honored at the WBCA Awards Luncheon presented by
State Farm and Jostens on Sunday, April 2 at 12:30 p.m. (ET) in the
Hynes Convention Center Ballroom. The luncheon is part of the 2006 WBCA
National Convention, held in Boston, Mass. in conjunction with the NCAA®
Women's Final Four®. This year the WBCA celebrates it's Silver Anniversary,
marking 25 years of existence.
