Atlanta, GA (June 24, 2003) -- Virginia Tech head women's basketball coach, Bonnie Henrickson, has been elected as Secretary of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) by the organization's active membership, WBCA CEO, Beth Bass reported. Henrickson's three-year term on the WBCA Executive Committee begins September 1, 2003. As secretary, Henrickson will be responsible for maintaining an accurate record of the status of each board member's term and when the terms expires, as well as complete minutes of each executive committee and board of directors meeting. In her sixth year as the head coach at Virginia Tech, Henrickson has led the Hokies to a 134-53 record, four trips to the NCAA Women's Tournament and two WNIT appearances. The Virginia Tech women's basketball program has enjoyed tremendous success the last four years. Tech ranks 20th in terms of victories and is joined on the list by the nation's top women's basketball teams. "We look forward to the addition of Bonnie to our Board of Directors," stated WBCA CEO, Beth Bass. "She has made a fine contribution to the success of her team and I am confident she will do the same for the WBCA." Founded in 1981, the 5,000-member WBCA promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster the development of the game in all of its aspects as an amateur sport for women and girls. |
