EBBA GEBISA EARNS WBCA'S CHARLES T. STONER
LAW SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has selected Ebba Gebisa of the University of Wisconsin-Madison as the winner of the Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award. The $1,000 Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award, named for and presented by Stoner, a former legal consultant for the WBCA, is presented annually to one female collegiate basketball player who intends to pursue a career in law.

"The WBCA is honored to present Ebba Gebisa with the Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award," said WBCA CEO Beth Bass. "Ebba has displayed resilient dedication on and off the court and we wish her continued success in the future."

The West Lafayette (IN) native is a senior forward who has been on the dean's list every semester but one during her collegiate career. Gebisa will graduate this spring with a degree in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics.

Gebisa's extra curricular activities include: Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Pre-law Society, and Students for Equal Access to Law School (SEALS). Gebisa is a three-time Athletic Board Scholar, three-time Academic All-Big Ten member, Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award winner, and a Chi Alpha Sigma Honoree (National Honor Society for Student Athletes).

This season, Gebisa averaged 13.3 minutes per game, while shooting 46.1 percent from the field, and averaging 83.8 percent from the charity stripe. Gebisa completes her career as a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, and the Athletic Board Scholar for the past four years signifying the highest grade point average on the team (3.882).

Gebisa will be honored at the WBCA Awards Luncheon presented by State Farm and Jostens on Sunday, April 3, at 12:30 p.m. at the Indianapolis Convention Center. The luncheon is part of the the 2005 WBCA National Convention, held in Indianapolis, Indiana in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Women's Final Four.

Founded in 1981, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game in all of its aspects as an amateur sport for women and girls.
