SANDORA IRVIN NAMED
WBCA NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE MONTH |

ATLANTA,
Ga. - Texas Christian University senior forward Sandora Irvin has
been named the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) National Player
of the Month for December.
In the month of December, Irvin averaged 23.4 points,
13.3 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 3.4 blocks in seven games. She led the Conference
USA in scoring (21.6 ppg) and rebounding (13.3 rpg), while surpassing
the Conference USA rebound record of 1,167 against the Southern Lady Eagles
with a new record of 1,175. Abbie Willenborg of Marquette (1996-00) formerly
held the record. Irvin ended last season with 15 consecutive double-doubles and had 23 overall. She set TCU single-season records for points (504), rebounds (366) and field goals made (195). She also ended last season as the only Lady Frog to ever average a double- double with 16.8 points and 12.2 rebounds. She was the Lady Frog leader in points, rebounds, blocks and minutes and the first TCU player to garner All-America praise by earning honorable mention from Kodak/WBCA and the Associated Press. Austin State University (Southland Conference); Amber Jackson, San Jose State University (Western Athletic Conference) *WBCA National Player of the Month honors is based on achievements during respective month for nomination and game-by-game statistics.
