ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) today announced that California State Polytechnic University-Pomona senior Candice Allen has been named the State Farm/WBCA NCAA Division II Player of the Year. The WBCA presents this award annually to the top players in each of the five WBCA collegiate divisions (NCAA Divisions I, II, III, NAIA and JC/CC) and high school.

"Candice has had an outstanding senior season and a very accomplished career. She is very deserving of this award," said WBCA CEO Beth Bass. On behalf of the WBCA, I wish her great success in her future endeavors."

Allen led the NCAA Division II in scoring for a second straight year and became only the second player to win back-to-back national scoring titles. Allen had a game-high of 50 this season against Glenville State, which set a new program and California Collegiate Athletic Association record (CCAA).

Allen finished her Cal Poly Pomona career with 1,439 points, which is 10th on the Bronco all-time list. Allen holds program records for most points in a game (50), most points in a season (734), highest single-season scoring average (28.0), most free throws made (186) and attempted (494) in a season, and highest 3-point field-goal percentage (47.9). Allen also holds conference records for most points in a game and most free throws made and attempted in a game.

Allen was the 2004 CCAA Player of the Year and was named to the prestigious 2004 and 2005 Kodak /WBCA All-America Team. In her Cal Poly Pomona career, she played in 56 games and helped the Broncos to a 43-1 record, while also leading them to four Sweet Sixteen appearances in five years.

"State Farm is proud to partner with the WBCA to recognize Candice for her dedication and the tremendous achievements she has accomplished," said Pam El, Vice President of
