YALE’S COHEN EARNS WBCA'S CHARLES T. STONER LAW SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has selected Julie Cohen of Yale University as the winner of the Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award. The $1,000 Charles T. Stoner Award, named for and presented by Stoner, a former legal consultant for the WBCA, is presented annually to one female collegiate basketball player who intends to pursue a career in law.

"Julie is very deserving of this recognition," said WBCA Chief Executive Officer Beth Bass. "The WBCA is always proud to see student-athletes further their education and take the skills they have learned and apply them to careers outside of basketball."

Senior guard Julie Cohen was named to the Winter Academic All-Ivy list this school year. Cohen started in all of the Bulldog's games this season and led the team in free throw percentage (.838). This season, she achieved career highs in assists (6) and rebounds (7) against Lafayette and Brown respectively. During her freshman season, she was named Most Improved Player after a strong showing in the second half of the season.

Cohen will be honored, and formally introduced to the WBCA coaches and convention registrants at the State Farm Wade Trophy and State Farm/WBCA Players of the Year Luncheon, presented by Jostens on Sunday, April 4, at 12:30 p.m. at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The luncheon is one of the events taking place at the 2004 WBCA National Convention, held in New Orleans, Louisiana in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Women's Final Four.

Founded in 1981, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game in all of its aspects as an amateur sport for women and girls.
