WBCA Pink Zone™

Mission Statement
The WBCA Pink Zone™ initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.

History
The WBCA began the WBCA Pink Zone, formerly known as "Think Pink", in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year a success. In 2008, over 1,100 teams and organizations participated, reaching over 830,000 fans and raising over $930,000 for breast cancer awareness and research.

WBCA Pink Zone™ 2009
The Pink Zone dates for 2009 will February 13-22. If you do not have a game during that window in which you can participate, feel free to select a game as close as you can to the dates listed.

Why Get Involved?
There are several coaches currently fighting this vicious disease. Women's basketball coaches share not only a profession, but a community and it is important to pull together and support such causes as this.

Officials Involvement in the WBCA Pink Zone
The NCAA has also joined the Pink Zone initiative by implementing the "Calling for a Cure" campaign where all NCAA women's basketball officials blew a pink whistle February 8-17, 2008. Additionally, officials were encouraged to make a donation to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. The NCAA raised $25,000 during their 2008 "Calling for a Cure" campaign. For more information, please contact the NCAA.

Donation Information

The WBCA recently announced the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. If you have not already partnered with a local charity, we would love for you to support this Fund with any donations, raffles, sales, etc. that you might be doing.
