Shannon Reynolds joined the WBCA staff in October 1997 as the Association's first-ever Director of Events and in April 2005 was named to the position of Chief Operating Officer. As COO, Reynolds manages the WBCA staff, serves as a liaison for the Association with its affiliated organizations, assists with coaches' legislative issues and objectives to enhance the sport of women's basketball and is the WBCA staff liaison to the WBCA Ethics Committee.
Prior to the WBCA, Reynolds began her professional career as the first ever head women's volleyball coach and Director of Athletic Development at Florida Atlantic University. She was responsible for founding the 15,000-student university's volleyball program and originating an aggressive fundraising and public relations program for the athletic department. In the early 90's, Reynolds was a radio talk show co-host and assistant producer for the Pete Rose Show out of Boca Raton, Fla. She was also Director of Marketing for the Oldsmobile LPGA Classic in Lake Worth, Fla. from August 1990 through December 1992, during which she coordinated all sales, media and tournament promotions for the 1991 and 1992 Oldsmobile LPGA Classics. Reynolds also spent a few years in the corporate world. As a District Sales Manager for Buy Owner, she was responsible for recruiting office and sales personnel, designing territories, and training and managing her staff.
Reynolds was born and raised in South Florida and was a dual athlete (basketball/volleyball) at the University of Tampa. She has no kids of her own but is the proud aunt of two nephews and godmother of four children in Atlanta.
