Jack Watford was named director of communications in January 2011. His responsibilities include overseeing the association's publications, including Coaching Women's Basketball magazine, and WBCA.org, the association's official web site, as well as serving as the WBCA's liaison to the news media and college sports information directors.
Watford comes to the WBCA after more than 16 years as director of communications and associate executive director of the Florida High School Athletic Association, where he was responsible for brand, contract and event management, Internet services, legislative and legal affairs, corporate marketing initiatives, media relations, membership services, publications, special programs, strategic planning and technology services. Prior to joining the FHSAA staff, Watford worked for more than 10 years as a sports writer, copy editor and page designer for the Pensacola (Fla.) News Journal.
Originally from Graceville, Fla., Watford graduated from Chipola College in Marianna, Fla., and the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Fla., with associate and bachelor's degrees, respectively, in communications.
