The State Farm Coaches' All-America Teams
The State Farm Coaches' All-America Teams honor the ten best collegiate women's
basketball players in the nation.
Eligibility
All academically eligible collegiate women's basketball players are eligible.
A State Farm Coaches' All-America Team is chosen for each collegiate division:
NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and JC/CC.
Criteria
*Present year game-by-game statistics and achievements
*Impact on the team
*Success of the team
*Sportsmanship and attitude
*Academic eligibility
Nomination
The official nomination form is available on the WBCA web site (www.WBCA.org)
in January of each year. Only Active A and Active B WBCA member head coaches with
an active membership before the nomination deadline of the current year or
earlier
will be permitted to submit nomination forms for athletes on their own team.
Nominations must be submitted and received by the nomination deadline in February
along with present year game-by-game statistics. All deadlines are firm.
NO exceptions will be made.
Selection
Each collegiate division has its own committee, comprised of WBCA member coaches.
After the deadline for nominations, WBCA member head coaches will review the
online nominations forms and present year game-by-game statistics for players
that were nominated in their region. Voters then rank, in order, their top selections
for the State Farm Coaches' All-America Team and submit their ballots online.
In Division I the top 10 players in Region 1, the top eight players in Region
5, the top seven players in Region 2, 3 and 4, the top five players from Region
6 and the top four players from Region 7 and 8 are the State Farm Coaches'
All-America Team Regional Finalists. Once the 52 regional finalists are voted
on by the WBCA Division I Membership the Division I State Farm Coaches' All-America
Team committee will rank the top 40. These top 40 will represent the State
Farm Coaches' All-America Team Finalists. For a more detailed look at this
new process in place beginning in 2007-08 click
here.
The top 5 players with the most votes from each region in NCAA Division
II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and JC/CC become State Farm Coaches' All-American
Finalists
in those divisions.
Once all of the online ballots have been submitted, the selection committee
from each region will review the nominations forms and present year game-by-game
statistics of the top finalists. Each committee member will discuss the finalists
from their region and then the committee will vote for the top 15 players
to
determine the 10 member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team for their division.
The 10 players that receive the most votes are named to the State Farm Coaches'
All-America Team for their division. The finalists who were not selected
to
the 10 member team will remain State Farm Coaches' All-American Honorable
Mentions.
Notification
All award winners and their coaches are notified following the committee
selection.
Presentation
All NCAA Division I award winners will be recognized at the State Farm Coaches'
All-America Press Conference during the WBCA National Convention. All other
divisions (NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, and JC/CC) will be
recognized
at their end of the year divisional banquets.
