The State Farm Coaches' All-America Teams
The State Farm Coaches' All-America Teams honors the best collegiate women's basketball players.
Eligibility
All academically eligible collegiate women's basketball players are eligible.
A State Farm Coaches' All-America Team is chosen to honor the 10 best collegiate women's basketball players for for each collegiate division:
NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and JC/CC. The athlete's head coach must be an active WBCA member in order for their players to be eligible for the State Farm Coaches' All-America program.
Criteria
* Present year game-by-game statistics and achievements
* Impact on the team
* Success of the team
* Sportsmanship and attitude
* Academic eligibility
Nomination
The official nomination form is available on the WBCA web site (www.WBCA.org)
in January of each year. A postcard is mailed no later than December directing membership to the web site for the forms. Only Active A and Active B WBCA member head coaches with
an active membership before the nomination deadline of the current year or
earlier
will be permitted to submit nomination forms for players on their own team.
Nominations must be submitted online and received by the nomination deadline in February. Nominations must include an approved NCAA statistical submittal
(i.e. Stat Crew) attached as a PDF document along with the nomination form. All deadlines are firm.
NO exceptions will be made.
Note: Each head coach should receive a confirmation via email of their nomination. If a coach does not receive a confirmation email, please contact the WBCA Manager of Awards at 770-279-8027, ext. 105. The 2010 nomination deadline will be announced in the fall of 2009.
Selection
Each collegiate division has its own committee, comprised of WBCA member coaches.
After the deadline for nominations, WBCA member head coaches in each region will vote electronically by logging on to WBCA.org and viewing each nomination form, including present year game-by-game statistics. Voters will rank, in order, their top picks. The players with the most votes from NCAA Division I in each region become State Farm Coaches' All-America Finalists for NCAA Division I.
In Division I the top 12 players in Region 1, the top seven players in Region 2, 3 and 5, the top six players from Region 4, the top five players from Region
6 and the top four players from Region 7 and 8 are the State Farm Coaches'
All-America Team Regional Finalists. Once the 52 regional finalists are voted
on by the WBCA Division I Membership the Division I State Farm Coaches' All-America
Team committee will rank the top 40. These top 40 will represent the State
Farm Coaches' All-America Team Finalists. For a more detailed look at this new process click here.
State Farm Coaches' All-America Team Division I DVD's for the 52 regional finalists are due to the WBCA by TBA. The DVD should be three (3) minutes long with no sound and should highlight the player's offensive and defensive skills. Please do not include captains or slow-motion in the video.
The top five players with the most votes from each region in NCAA Division
II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and JC/CC become State Farm Coaches' All-American
Finalists
in those divisions. The selection committee from each region then votes to determine its ten (10) member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team. The finalists who were not selected to the ten (10) member team will remain State Farm Coaches' All-America Honorable Mentions.
The NCAA Division I State Farm Coaches' All-America Team will be selected prior to the WBCA National Convention during a two-day in-person meeting.
Notification
All award winners and their coaches are notified following the committee
selection by the WBCA. The NCAA Division I State Farm Coaches' All-America Team will be notified by the chair of the State Farm Coaches' All-America Selection Committee and by the WBCA Consultant following the in-person selection committee meeting prior to the WBCA National Convention.
Presentation
All NCAA Division I award winners will be recognized at the State Farm Coaches'
All-America Press Conference during the WBCA National Convention. All other
divisions (NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, and JC/CC) will be
recognized
at their end of the year divisional banquets.
