Celebrating Black History in Women’s Basketball: Marian E. Washington
Marian Washington created a bit of Black History in her own right, serving as an assistant coach for the USA’s gold medal-winning Olympic team in 1996, becoming the first African-American to coach on a U.S. Olympic women’s basketball staff.
Outside of the international arena Washington continued to make history, posting a 560-363 ledger in 31 seasons as the women's basketball coach at the University of Kansas.
Washington guided Kansas to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, reaching the Sweet 16 twice, as well as two WNIT showings and three AIAW Sectional finishes while reaching the 20-win plateau 17 times and claiming seven league titles and six conference tournament championships.
In 2003 she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Black Coaches Association as well as being tabbed as Coach of the Year by the BCA in both 1992 and 1996.

 Members of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee are shown as they begin the selection process as part of the selection orientation meeting taking place on Wednesday and Thursday at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis.
The meeting allows the committee to prepare for the actual selection, seeding and bracketing process which will take place in March, culminating with the announcement of the bracket for the 2010 championship on March 15 at 7 p.m. EST on ESPN.

2010 WBCA High School All-America Game presented by Nike to be Played in Alamodome
The 2010 WBCA High School All-America Game presented by Nike will be played on the same court as the NCAA® Women's Final Four® in San Antonio, Texas.
The college-style regulation game is free to the public and is scheduled to tip-off at 4:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 3, at the Alamodome.
The 2010 WBCA High School All-America Team will be announced in mid-February. Tickets for seating in a reserved section are available for purchase at www.wbca.org.

Over 100 WBCA Pink Zone® Games to be Broadcasted Across the Nation
 The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced today that over 100 WBCA Pink Zone® women’s basketball games across the nation will be broadcasted via television or internet stream.
ESPN continues the ongoing support of this initiative by dedicating its annual “February Frenzy” women’s college basketball games on ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN360.com to supporting the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund®, in partnership with The V Foundation.
