Association Updates

WBCA bylaws. A proposed comprehensive revision to the WBCA Bylaws is posted on for your review. The membership will vote on the proposed bylaw revision from June 1-10.

WBCA board positions. Nominations are being accepted for select positions on the WBCA Board of Directors through April 16 at 5 p.m. ET.

WBCA Career Center. The WBCA Career Center is a helpful site to find opportunities in coaching.

WBCA membership information. Please remember to inform the WBCA if you transition to a different institution. This helps to ensure that you stay informed of what is happening in the women’s basketball community.


2015 Convention

#wbca15. A special thank you to everyone who helped make #wbca15 a success.  Thank you to everyone who attended as well.

Opinions. Please be on the lookout for a short survey coming your way in regards to your #wbca15 experience. Members who did not attend will also be able to voice their opinions as well with a separate survey.

ProLibraries. Sessions that were recorded during the 2015 WBCA Convention will be available on the WBCA’s PROLibrariespage beginning Monday, April 27. Sessions from the 2014 WBCA Convention in Nashville remain available.



NCAA supports amendment to Indiana’s religious freedom law. The NCAA expressed its support for changes to the Indiana religious freedom law.


Kay Yow Cancer Fund

4Kay 5Kay. Thanks to everyone who participated in the 2015 NCAA 4Kay Run.  Prior to the 2015 event, the 4Kay Run raised approximately $180,000 in support for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

2015 Play4Kay divisional winners. On April 3 the Kay Yow Cancer Fund® announced the top fundraisers in each division of the 2015 Play 4Kay® initiative.


Industry News

UConn wins record 10th national championship. The UConn Huskies beat Notre Dame 63-53 on April 7 to record their 10th national championship in 20 years.

Lisa Leslie to be inducted into Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Lisa Leslie is one of 11 members of the Class of 2015 to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

WNBA Draft.  The 2015 WNBA Draft will take place on Thursday, April 16, at 7 p.m. ET at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The first round will be on ESPN2. ESPN3 will air the second and third rounds starting at 8 p.m. ET.

United States Marine Corps/WBCA Coach of the Year winners announced. On Monday, April 6 the six United States Marine Corps/WBCA Coach of the Yearwinners were announced at the Fifth Annual WBCA Award Show in Tampa, Florida.

Triple-Doubles. Stanford has tallied the most triple-doubles in a season with five in 2002. Nicole Powell, currently an assistant coach at Oregon, posted all five of those triple-doubles and holds the individual record for triple-doubles in a season.
