WBCA Board of Directors nominations. Nominations are being accepted for select positions on the WBCA Board of Directors through April 16.

 

Russell Athletic ‘Together We R’ Award. Visit the WBCA YouTube page and “like” the most deserving Russell Athletic ‘Together We R’ finalist video. Deadline is 5 p.m. ET Friday, March 20.

 

WBCA Collegiate Coach Talking Points. The WBCA Board of Directors Branding Working Group released its Empowering Women Through The PoWeR of Sport talking points that coaches should use during the month of March.

Registering. Friday, March 20 is the last day to register in advance for the 2015 WBCA Convention. 
 
Airport Shuttle. Advance registration is required for the airport shuttle in Tampa Bay.

Moms in Coaching. Moms in Coaching is a group formed with the purpose of equipping and encouraging basketball coaches at any level who are moms, or moms-to-be. Moms in Coaching will provide an opportunity for moms to connect, give and receive advice, feedback and support during #wbca15. Email if interested.

 

Finalists announced for the 2015 United States Marine Corps/WBCA High School National Coach of the Year Award. Eight high school coaches were named 2015 United States Marine Corps/WBCA High School District Coaches of the Year, all coaches are finalists for the Pat Summitt Trophy.

 

Finalists announced for the 2015 United States Marine Corps/WBCA NAIA National Coach of the Year Award.  Six NAIA coaches were named 2015 United States Marine Corps/WBCA NAIA Regional Coaches of the Year, all coaches are finalists for the Pat Summitt Trophy.

 

Finalists announced for the 2015 United States Marine Corps/WBCA J/CC National Coach of the Year Award.  Three Junior/Community College coaches were named 2015 United States Marine Corps/WBCA J/CC Regional Coaches of the Year, all coaches are finalists for the Pat Summitt Trophy.

Sue Donohoe wins first USBWA Mary Jo Haverbeck Award. Sue Donohoe, the Executive Director of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, was announced as the first recipient of the USBWA Mary Jo Haverbeck Award.

 

Rock Valley wins NJCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship. Rock Valley (Ill.) pulled off an 80-76 overtime win against Roxbury (Mass.) to claim their third title in four years.

Peninsula wins first NWAC title. Peninsula College (Wash.) beat Lane Community College (Ore.) 85-75 to win its first NWAC title on March 10.

 

Allstate, WBCA honor student-athletes with Good Works Team®. In early February, the WBCA and Allstate announced the 10 student-athletes named to the 2015 Allstate WBCA Good Works Team®. The WBCA and Allstate have partnered for three years to recognize exceptional student-athletes who go above and beyond in community efforts off-the-court.

Did you know?

 

NCAA DII Tournament Most Outstanding Players. Only two players have been named the NCAA DII Tournament Most Outstanding Player in back-to-back years. Kasey Morlock from North Dakota State won the award in 1994-95 and 1995-96. Jenny Crouse from North Dakota received the honor in 1997-98 and 1998-99.
