Nominations for select awards available. Nominations are begin accepted for the following awards: Frances Pomeroy Naismith, Russell Athletic Together We R, WBCA Coach of the Year, WBCA Victory Club, Charles Timothy Stoner Law Scholarship and WBCA Coaches’ All-America Team.

2015 Convention

Housing alternatives. NCAA hotels and fan housing are available options for WBCA convention registrants.

Roommates. If you are in need of a roommate during the 2015 WBCA National Convention, use #wbca15roommate on social media to begin communication with others who are in similar need.

Tickets. The Women’s Final Four ticket block is open to all members.  Please review all NCAA and WBCA ticket policies before finalizing your order. NCAA

Legislation results from NCAA Convention. Legislation was voted on during the NCAA Convention Jan. 14-18.  Here are the voting results for Division I, Division II and Division III.

Understanding NCAA DI Legislative Votes. Significant changes were voted upon at the NCAA Convention.  To gain a better understanding of those changes, check out the articles, “Why you should care about this year’s NCAA convention” and “NCAA heads down unchartered path where ‘real work begins’”.  

Travel for DI Basketball Championships. Due to the limited number of charter planes available during the NCAA Division I Basketball Championships, travel for teams has changed for 2015.

Rules change proposals. The NCAA Women’s Basketball Rules Committee is now accepting rules change proposals to be considered for the rules survey and discussion at its annual meeting in May.  All proposals must be received by Feb. 1.

Jaynes named to Georgia College Athletics Hall of Fame Class for 2015. Betty Jaynes is one of three to be named to the Georgia College Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2015.  The induction ceremony is on Feb. 21.

Christine Simmons named Sparks president and chief operations officer. The Los Angeles Sparks named Christine Simmons president and chief operations officer on Jan. 13.

Sylvia Hatchell honored by Hunter Huss High School. Sylvia Hatchell was honored on Jan. 17 with her high school, Hunter Huss, naming its basketball court after her.

Three inducted into NJCAA Women’s Basketball HOF. Bob McKinley, Ricky Gene Ford and Denny Jerome have been named as the 2015 class of the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Bobbi Vandenberg obtains 300th win. Viterbo University women’s basketball head coach Bobbi Vandenberg earned her 300th victory on Jan. 20 when the V-Hawks beat Mount Mercy (Iowa) 76-61.
